"Jigsaw puzzles with only EIGHT
pieces," you say? "You have to be
kidding!" We're afraid we are very
serious: if you happen to lack a
photographic memory, these puzzles can
be very tough indeed.
When you run the program, SPRITE
PUZZLE draws an abstract design on the
screen. It then takes a portion of
the design and isolates it. This
portion is how the solved puzzle is
supposed to look. You get to see it
for about five seconds.
At the end of five seconds, the
program breaks the design into eight
pieces and switches them around. Your
job is to build the original design
again.
If you press the SPACEBAR, you will
see that each piece of the puzzle is
numbered. To solve the puzzle, you
must "switch-out" the pieces. To move
Piece 4 to the space occupied by Piece
6, for example, you would first press
the "4" key, then the "6" key.
If you are totally baffled (a not
unlikely feeling when playing SPRITE
PUZZLE), you can get a clue by
pressing the "C" key. This will place
one piece of the puzzle in its correct
place. If this still doesn't help
you, pressing the "S" key will solve
the puzzle.
Good luck! You're going to need it.
